Keeping vaginal infections at bay

Most women at some point in their life will have to deal with vaginal infections of some kind. Unfortunately vaginal infections can come back stalling us in our daily routines.

The Fresh Wand and vaginal infections

The Fresh Wand Bidet Sprayer has always been a massive part in my life helping me to feel clean and fresh through my day. However, The Fresh Wand cannot fight against vaginal infections alone.  You need to keep a routine to fight the bacteria from breeding inside you and keep vaginal infections away.

Vaginal Infections: Personal hygiene is key

Keeping a regimented personal hygiene routine is vital in the fight against vaginal infections.

  • You should change your sanitary pads regularly through the day when you are on your periods. This is where I feel the bidet sprayer really helps. We can’t keep having showers every time we change our pad. But with the bidet sprayer you can get that same clean, freshness without having to undress.
  • You should always keep your pubic hair nice and short. Let’s face it; the guys love it that way anyway. Be careful not to knick your skin or cause irritation.
  • Every time you go to the toilet, you should be using a bidet sprayer for ultimate cleanliness. If you are unlucky enough to be in a bathroom without a bidet sprayer, you should wipe your genitals starting from the front and ending towards the back. This prevents the bacterium E. coli entering your vagina via the rectum.
  • A damp and moist environment breeds bacteria. Always make sure you only use a mild soap and make sure you are properly dry before putting your panties on. The vagina and the area around it should be clean and dry to prevent vaginal infections.
  • Do not use feminine hygiene products like perfumed gels, soaps, tampons, or vaginal deodorants as these can irritate the vagina inviting an infection.
  • Douching interferes with the normal balance of the organisms already inside the vagina causing bacterial and yeast infections that may also affect other reproductive organs.

Clothing to prevent vaginal infections

  • Wash your panties and tights with a mild washing powder and always rinse very well.
  • Try to dry your undergarments in the sun. Sunlight kills bacteria and fungus.
  • Try to replace your panties through the day if possible for that ultimate freshness feeling. Light and loose fitting cotton panties are the best as cotton helps keep your genitals dry by absorbing the moisture and allowing air to circulate.
  • If you wear tights or pantyhose, make sure you wear cotton panties underneath.
  • If you wear long pants, tight jeans, panties or pantyhose for extended hours, proper air circulation will be restricted making it a suitable ground for bacteria to grow and breed.

Sex and vaginal infections

  • Always clean and dry your vagina before and after having sexual intercourse.
  • Doctors recommend not using perfumed lubricants, gels or oils to lubricate the vagina. These are believed to invite several vaginal infections.
  • Certain spermicidal tablets or gels are also reported to cause vaginal infections. Consult your gynecologist first before using them.
  • Condoms are probably the safest way to prevent vaginal infections that happen from sexual intercourse. Condoms must be used if having sex with many partners.
  • If you are already suffering from a vaginal infection, doctors recommend not having sex until the infection is completely gone.

So while The Fresh wand Bidet Sprayer can help massively to keep you clean and fresh throughout the day, there are a number of other things that will help you being properly healthy in this part of your body.
